Have a Ford EXP...mostly because you never see them anymore. ( I kind of liked their looks back in the day, but I know nothing at all about them)

I don't think that I've ever seen one in the wild.

I know that the 1982 Brochure is incredibly early 80's in feel:

I believe it was just an Escort with 'sportier' body panels.

From Wikipedia :
The Ford EXP and Mercury LN7 were the first two-seaters that Ford offered in 25 years. The coupes shared the wheelbase and mechanicals of the Ford Escort with a longer, more stylish body. It was first shown at the Chicago Auto Show and introduced in April 1981 as an early 1982 model.

Impossible! No turbo tags anywhere on it! But those tail lights are pretty close to being lasers.

I have to wonder if there are any survivors. Maybe I'll ebay search it later.

Early models had a 1.6L HO engine, later models had aero headlamps and a 1.9L engine.

You used to see them occasionally in the 80s, but even then they weren't super common. They were 2-seat Escorts. Not terrible cars (especially the second generation), but there wasn't a huge market for tiny 2 seat front drive econo-cars. I guess the built some with the Escort Turbo engine in the mid 80s too, but I've never seen one of those... I want to though!
I drove a second gen EXP back in the mid 90s and thought it was nifty, but essentially useless. I felt that it was a cool looking but less useful competitor to the CRX. The rear hatch area was super small, compared to the CRX.
If you want to get really weird, look for a Mercury LN7!

The truth about owning two seaters is that practicality isn't high on your priority list .

Not always true... CRXs are immensely practical. And I bought my current C5 specifically because I can get a TON more junk in the back than I could in a 350Z...
